Sara Makiya, M. Ed. 

Manager, Marketing & Communications

 

Sara Makiya's work at CS4ED focuses on creating compelling communications by bringing together a deep understanding of product development, educational content, market demands, and design. Sara also works as a Course Designer at the Harvard Division of Continuing Education, helping faculty redesign and implement aspects of their pedagogy and practice for remote, in-person, and hybrid learning experiences.

Before coming to CS4Ed, Sara worked at the Carroll School as a Cognitive Intervention Specialist & Program Manager. There she helped develop, pilot, and market an individualized computer-game based program designed to improve dyslexic students’ cognitive and reading skills. Her work involved analysis of student data, faculty training and coaching, curriculum development, research, and marketing & communications.
Sara received an M. Ed. in Mind, Brain, and Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE). Her coursework focused on uniting cognitive science, education, technology, innovation, and design to create effective, impactful, scalable educational tools - particularly in nontraditional learning spaces (such as media, games, online communities, etc.) Sara served as a Teaching Fellow at HGSE for the courses Entrepreneurship in the Education Marketplace and Digital Media Literacy. She is currently completing a certificate in graphic design from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
